June was certainly a big month for us. We had been blessed with the opportunity to minister through song and dance at the National United Methodist Youth Conference in Orlando, Florida (http://www.youth2015.org).
Apollo had a very short break from his tour with Sister Act, The Musical and Vera had just re-joined the dance team for the NBA's Atlanta Hawks. Let's just say things were pretty hectic then.
We went to Orlando not really knowing what to expect. We'd never hosted an event that big before - up to 1000 teens - and we still weren't really sure what we were going to do.
By the time 9 pm arrived were all still nervous but we were definitely ready. At first only a few kids trickled in. A bit of panic seeped in - were any kids coming? or did they not want to come? would they think we were lame? was any of this worth it?
What we did know was that whatever we did, it was going to be fun and God had our back.
By the time it was over, we were just all completely amazed at how God had worked it all out. The kids were so amazing. I mean, they are all really, really good things who are committed to the Lord at such a young age - and trying to do some really cool things to make a difference in the lives of others.
We met a liturgical dance team called 'Faith in Motion' early on Thursday morning. Apollo taught them the routine in about 30 minutes and they learned it quickly.
More and more they started to come in. I started to breathe some sigh of relief.
The show would go on!
Here is a snippet of our opening number, with the Faith in Motion dancers. The song, "Uno Uno Seis" references one of our favorite scriptures, Romans 1:16.
Be well & Be Blessed.
