Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. Ephesians 4:32
Kindness. It is defined as a quality or state of mind where one is warm, charitable or caring towards another. And today the 13th of November is recognized as World Kindness Day. It is a day where people get to demonstrate acts of kindness to each other. A day where we all have the power to make a difference in someone else's life.
Research shows that kindness is contagious. It has a ripple effect that can be endless. So your one act of kindness, however small, can start a chain of events that will affect many others favorably. The reason being we humans have a tendency to mimic each other. So when someone does good things or is kind to you, you have this need to return the favor.
This day first began in 1998 when it was introduced by the World Kindness Movement. Today several countries such as Canada, Japan, Nigeria, the United Arab Emirates among others celebrate this day.
So here are a few ways by which you can be part of this day:- say hello to people you come across.
- compliment your co-workers
- pick up litter
- leave a generous tip
- send flowers to someone you love
- cook dinner for a friend
- offer to wash someone's car
- offer to baby sit someone's kids
- anonymously pay for someone's meal
- hold the door open for your co-workers
We can all make this world a better place, let's start a chain of goodness by being kind.
